Black bear offers the best breakfast in Havasu. The portions are large and reasonably priced. Portions are one thing but food is extremely fresh and flavorful. You can go either way as far as healthy or saturated fat. They do both extremes very well. I think their benedicts and their scrambles are great. The pancakes are some of yummiest I have had. Service is always warm and efficient. Make sure you arrive 9 am or earlier or you will wait a long time Fridays-sundays.

The Black Bear Diner is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I came here with my uncle because he raved about this place. I can see why. At first impression, the restaurant smells a little like they shampooed the carpets with some really strong perfume, which was a little off-putting. However, don't be deterred. If you stick around, you won't regret it. The service was very friendly and fast. My glass never got lower than 1/3 full. I ordered the Joe's Hobo Omelet with Country Fried Potatoes and a Biscuit-- delicious. My uncle ordered the Cherry Bear Claw French Toast, which looked amazing. Overall, I'd highly recommend this place. You can't go wrong at the Black Bear Diner!

Luv this place! Go there every time with family. Service is great but place can be bz. Lov their green beans and the jukebox playing in the background. Plenty of parking. They take cc, service is great. Good comfort good, clean place, small restroom. We'll be back.

BEST pancakes EVER! (And this is from someone who generally doesn't like pancakes)! Love love love this place! Too bad I have moved away! Dying to visit LHC to go here again!

Be prepared to come with a buddy . They're meals are perfect for sharing and are very reasonably priced .the griZZ was really good and just the right combination of breakfast items to start my day. We only waited about 8 mins to be seated which was really good and our waitress was very sweet.

My wife had the tuna salad and loved the tuna. I had the hot scramble which was really good. I would recommend.

This place ROCKS! Food is awesome. Friendly people. Its always a pleasure!! Even when it's busy it's still worth the wait. They have the freshest food, and made to perfection. I am a picky eater and hands down this place is one of my top choices.

Even if you take the top 10% and bottom 10% reviews and delete them before running an average, you'll still have a 4-5 star diner. And having gone to other Black Bear Diner locations, I can also say that I've experienced consistently good food and service. This past trip to Havasu and Parker, we stayed in Havasu the first night, and had breakfast at Black Bear the first morning in AZ. As everyone relates, orders arrive in the "Boutiful-Configuration-Mode." Food is usually good; sometimes very good to really good. I haven't had a "fail" at any location. And if we did, I'm sure they'd replace the order. Oh..... the coffee? For American drip style, it's bold and flavorful. (I'm in the Specialty Coffee Industry... an importer of Brasilian beans). I rarely will drink typical American drip brew. But there are a few restaurants that do it right. Bottom line..... and especially if you're looking for a good breakfast... trust the majority of Yelpers and just go to Black Bear. While anything is possible.... I'm betting you'll have a good to great experience.

So yes, I am a fan. I do like their bear sized breakfast for a low price. I do like their sweet cream pancakes. But this review is mostly for our awesome waiter. My grandmother and I came here when I was visiting her and had a huge breakfast. I was able to sub the meats in my Bear breakfast for some toast and potatoes, and my grandmother had an amazing sweet cream waffle. Half way through our meal, as we were seated by a window, a bird flew right into it. Or rather, was thrown into it by a huge black bird. Said black bird was trying very hard to devour this poor little finch right in front of us. Now, I believe in nature and all that, but seriously, black bird thrive off of garbage so when I ran out there and shooed it away I wasn't worried about it dying of starvation. Our waiter saw the whole thing and brought me a box for this little bird, which was hurt a bit but after a few hours of rest was able to fly off and hopefully not get caught by another bully black bird. Our waiter was so cool about it, when most people would have not been. So cool points for you bro, saving little animals while serving amazing pancakes!

Always a great experience at The Black Bear Diner. Great prices, Huge portions, and a Friendly atmosphere. Our waiter James, always does a fantastic job every time he is our server. We've been here at least 4 or 5 times a year since 04 and always enjoyed our meals.

One of our family favorites. We love kids eat free Tuesday. The wait staff is fantastic, portions are huge. I've never seen a quite time at the Black Bear. They are always busy and often times we have to wait for a table. A line out the door is a sign of good things to come. We will gladly continue to give our breakfast business to Black Bear any day over Denny's or IHOP.

Get ready for a heaping pile of scrum-dilly-upcious breakfast! We walked in with maybe 6 names in front of us. Only took 15 minutes to get a table. We sat down an the waitress took our drink order pretty quick and delivered out drinks even quicker. I don't know if it was the coffee, the cream or if I just hadn't had coffee in so long but it sure was tasty! Orange juice tasted like fresh squeezed oranges. Mmmmmm perfection. I ordered the Shasta scramble it was veggies and avocado in egg whites with jack cheese. Option of has browns or potatoes. I went with the potatoes and was pretty happy with that choice. They had some light eater. Kind of like 1/2 plates if you didn't want to eat too much. They also had a small healthy menu with egg whites and things like that. I just subbed on my order as usual and was petty happy! Waitress was super nice! You can tell she was a little stressed with the rug but was making light of the situation cracking jokes and laughing with us!!

What can I say, this place is just absolutely phenomenal! My husband and I enjoyed breakfast here, I had the chicken fried steak along with hash browns and the homemade biscuit smothered in their gravy ( I strongly encourage anyone having a meal here to order something with the biscuit, it is to die for!), and my husband ordered the waffle with bacon and eggs. The fresh squeezed orange juice is AMAZING! Great experience here.

Was a great restaurant with excellant food and service. You get a lot of food and I loved that they provide healthy options. The waitress misheard my order and thought I wanted hashbrowns instead of fruit, but when I mentioned it she didn't hesitate to run back and grab me a bowl of fruit for free. The shasta egg scramble was amazing and the avacado and fruit was fresh and delicious. I've been to other black bear diners and they never leave me dissapointed.

In town for a wedding and went by and sat at the counter. Service was excellent. Busy restaurant but I got my food quickly. Delicious breakfast and wanted to try more things than I could eat. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend.

We always love coming here, tonight was no different. My husband ordered breakfast for dinner that was free thanks to the birthday club. Thanks to the manager Alex for taking the coupon off of my husbands phone since our printer was broken and we couldn't print the coupon. I had one of their specials back in December. It was a grilled cheese and meatloaf sandwich with BBQ sauce. It wasn't the special tonight, but I asked them to make it and they did! Yummy! Our waitress said the cooks name was TK so a big thanks to TK for making me such a yummy dinner that wasn't even on the menu. Also thanks to our waitress Denise for the awesome service! We try to eat here once a week. Just thought I'd give one of our favorite places a shout out.

I was in town on business and thought I'd avoid the chains. The BBD had great reviews, so I figured it wouldn't be the typical diner experience. The staff was amazing, in fact the service was the very best part of the experience and the reason I averaged this review at a 3. The dinner on the other hand was exactly what you'd expect to be served in a nursing home; bland, undercooked and very chewy. There were small bugs crawling under the condiment holder, to the point that I had to take the rest of my meal to go.

  • Michael C.

Excellent family diner, great for families. Portions are very generous and the menu is priced reasonably for the area. Service was great, as you'd expect from a family diner. We'll be back!

This place is awesome for the price. They are all extremely friendly here, food is great, portions are well (American sized) and prices are very very good. We went for family breakfast and I made the mistake and challenge of ordering "The Grizz". Wow that is a lot of food. All very very good but omg....no man vs food here. Pancakes are damn amazing but they will just kick your butt. In summary its just a great old diner with good service and food for a great price. Go here. cheers

My buddy and I were on a last minute 4AM road trip to Havasu to buy a used pick-up truck. After a very long five hour drive we were tired, hungry, and in desperate need of some coffee. A quick search on my Yelp app identified a few of the top contenders in the area. Lucky for us, Black Bear was just around the corner from our destination and had the most stars. Score! We were promptly seated and greeted by at least three different people. The crowd was older but the vibe was very friendly. I perused the awesome newspaper-like menu for a bit, ordered some coffee and settled on the simplest thing I could find: bacon and eggs. I love bacon and eggs. Especially eggs over medium and juicy thick sliced bacon. It must've been my lucky day because Black Bear does bacon and eggs right! The meal also came with potatoes O'Brien and a fresh baked biscuit or toast. I went with the biscuit but later regretted it when I needed my toast to sop up the yolk. Doh! My buddy, Sean, ordered their meatiest monster of an omelet and finished half of it. Seriously, the thing was huge. He was stoked on it but just entirely too much food for a little dude like him. The service was decent although they were very busy. My coffee didn't get refilled as often as I would have liked but then again, they probably didn't realize I would be guzzling it. Overall I was satisfied with the meal and service and will definitely be back.

Excellent food and decent prices. Very friendly staff, clean facilities. Distinct home cooked meal flavor! Good food that did not taste like it was frozen and had been microwaved! No wait to be seated and food came out in an acceptable amount of time!

Black bear diner has always impressed! I've been through a couple from Redding, CA to here in Lake Havasu City, AZ. The service here is exceptional, and the food was great! Will definitely return the next time I'm in Havasu!

A warm down-home kind of atmosphere that serves generous portions of delicious American faire for breakfast, lunch, or dinner feasts, offering a good variety. Only negative was poor service - slow and not too friendly.

My husband and I always bring the parents here when we make the trip to Havasu. We are never disappointed, the food is great and the portions are huge. You never leave hungry. Our server was very attentive and nice. We love the atmosphere.

The Lake Havasu location has fast seating, fast service, large portions of great food. I dine there several times a month and have for over ten years. The entire staff are friendly and well trained, I would like to acknowledge Margie for her hard working and friendly attitude and Lynne for a well managed restaurant

About 2x a year our whole family drives out from California to visit grandparents in Havasu, we've made it a tradition for us all to eat breakfast at the Black Bear Diner. Usually the service is good, this last time we went was terrible. We had a party of 25 we all sat down and the 7 people at our table ordered first. To start we asked for creamer for our coffee and the waitress decided before bringing us the creamer she would take the other 18 peoples order (we are all at separate tables) so by the time we actually got the creamer our coffee was completely cold. We waited patiently for our food while the whole other party of 18 people were served their food, even though we ordered before them! After sitting there for about 2 hours (still with no food and 2 kids at our table getting antsy and starving!) we decided to make contact with the manager, she came off as defensive and rude and tried to tell us we were wrong that we didn't order before the others. I've never had this terrible of service ANYWHERE. And I am debating ever coming back to the Black Bear. I hope this reaches someone at a higher position who can speak with the manager and help her get her operational opportunities (and attitude) in check.

Huge portions and the price is right. My go to here is the chicken fried steak and eggs, biscuits and gravy. Good food good service.

  • Joanne H.

Reason I rated this a 3 star is my last visit I ordered a chicken salad it was Hugh couldn't barley eat it all and my male young waiter was excellent. This time the salad wad 1/2 the size and my older waitress sucked. Even getting refills on ice tea was a long wait and it took her forever to get our ticket. When we were eating she refilled one iced tea and noone elses. Food was good. My son got a the hamburger salad excellent be sure to asked for the onions on the side ir they are all through it. Also recommend ordering an extra patty to get enough meat. Ground beef was a very good grade of meat not cheap ground beef.

Back again this year to Lake Havasu and have been here 2 times already. Still love this place. Best in town for breakfast for sure. Now I am trying lunch, today I had the Chicken avocado club sandwich, it was wonderful, full of big chunks of the avocado, and I ordered it on rye bread. Very big and oh so good. Also, we joined the bear club and received a free bear claw, it really is the size of a real bears claw, get the lemon filled one, so good. We also got one of the little banana cream pies and it is wonderful!

  • Mike S.

I want to try this place, but looked online for menu and pricing, there is no prices on menu items. Called restaurant and asked why, they said it depends which location you go to. I said this location, they said sorry, come in to see prices. I'm sure the food is good from other reviews, but how do you not post the prices too? Whoever is in charge of the advertising needs to update online menus. I might try it out one day.

Great service, huge portions, and a clean, friendly atmosphere. Yelp did us right. She had the chicken club with a bunch of modifications, and i enjoyed the fact that they serve breakfast all day - eggs, french toast and sausage. Everything was exactly as ordered. Highly recommend!

GREAT breakfast food! The sausage and thick cut bacon were amazing. Husband ordered The Grizz and that was a ton of food, plenty to share between him and 2 small kids. Pancakes were fluffy and yummy.

Awesome food every time we go here! Their food is amazing especially their corned beef hash. Fresh corned beef hand shredded. Cinnamon swirl french toast tastes like a fresh Cinnabon cinnamon roll crispy on the edges---so good melt in your mouth!

  • Jim G.

Wow what a plate full of great tasting food. Very friendly and clean restaurant. Next time we will share a meal. The restaurant was very busy Sunday morning when we met friends for breakfast. After a short wait we were seated. Our waitress Jennifer was very knowledgeable and friendly. Food came out very quickly and hot. Almost to much food! Highly recommend this restaurant if you are every in Havasu.

  • Tim W.

This place is so hot and cold!! Consistency is NOT their strong suit (see previous reviews!) Stopped in here for dinner on Saturday night and it was disgusting! The place was SO dirty! Everything about this place seemed unsanitary on this last visit. Not sure I will be back any time soon. Our server was nice and did a good job. Just the other people working there and eating there on this particular night were kinda gross. Watched three different servers eating food right behind the counter near the drink machine and then just start making someone's shakes with their unwashed hands. The kitchen was being broom swept right in the middle of the dinner hour while all the food was being made. Looking around this place was just gross. My food was OK.. the side pancake I got was the best I have had in a long time! I just don't think I can deal with the gross feeling of this place to go back any time soon!

  • Lisa S.

Definitely worth going off your diet here. Stopped on the road between Phoenix and Laughlin. So glad we did! The cozy bear decor is darling but it is the American comfort food here that is DELICIOUS. I had the chicken fried chicken and my boyfriend had the pot roast. Everything is homemade, including the melt in your mouth corn bread. I am not a big fan of mashed potatoes but I would kill for their recipe. For dessert we shared the cinnamon Bavarian creme apple crisp - to die for. The prices are more than reasonable; the service is fast and friendly. Our waiter James said he's been there since the restaurant opened. Would definitely go back next time we're passing through.

Food was fresh hot and tasty breakfast. Service was fast and spot on by Linda. But Bathroom was gross in need of an over haul !

  • Deven E.

This place is THE BEST for breakfast!! Never had anything I didn't like. I have only been once for lunch/dinner and it was good, but not as to die for as the breakfast. They always give you huge portions so you can either share or have some for later. Their pancakes are so yummy. As well as their waffles and French toast. Kids eat free ALL DAY on Tuesdays (with the purchase of an adult entree). Biscuits and gravy..delish! The corned beef hash is amazing! They use real corned beef, not like what you would get in the can. (Although, that's not bad either! Lol) good coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, my kids love the hot chocolate, if you ask them to (or for their bday) they will had chocolate drizzle and sprinkles to the whipped cream. All of the servers are friendly and great, but Linda is THE GEM!! Can't say enough wonderfulness about Black Bear..obviously! Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of five is because I'm not 100% on the lunch/dinner since I haven't had it much.

    (4)
  • Pamela B.

The Black Bear Diner is quaint and friendly, and serves the best breakfast we've had in ages! My husband had the Mini Volcano, and there's nothing mini about it! I had the chorizo scramble with fruit. Everything was fresh and delicious. The orange juice was fresh squeezed, and the salsa made right there. Jennifer was our server, and we couldn't have asked for better---friendly, accurate and responsive. This has already become a favorite for us. Don't hesitate to try!

The food was amazing here! It is probably the best American breakfast I have ever had in my life. The prices are cheap and the portions are huge! All of the food is made fresh and taste soooooo good! Will definitely recommend and I hope to go back again some day!

  • Tiffany S.

The hubby had gone here years before and wanted to go again! His memories were not wrong, this place is memorable! The decor is so cute, it has a log cabin theme and is very homey! The wait was only about 10-15 minutes which for a Sunday morning is not bad at all! We were seated and helped right away. I ordered milk and the hubby had the OJ, its not cheap but oh man is it good! Fresh squeezed to order! Can't beat that! We ordered the famous chicken fried steak and eggs breakfast combo, they are NOT JOKING when they say its gigantic! It is HUGE! The meat was very tender, the gravy was creamy, and the hashbrowns were cooked just right! We also ordered the cinnamon roll french toast (mistake to order two items), but I would have been upset if we didn't have this to eat! It was so good! If you like sweets and like cinnamon this is the way to go! Overall the place is totally a diner, so don't expect white linens and classy wait staff. Expect HUGE portions, quick service, lots of butter and grease, and a full belly when you leave!! Oh I almost forgot, we had the leftovers the next day for breakfast after heading home and they were just as good, so get a to-go box, you will love it the next day too!!!!

  • Angela B.

Humongous sized portions. Such good food. Only problem is it can have a pretty long wait most of the time..the scrambles are good. It's kid friendly and kept pretty clean.

    (5)
  • Brittany H.

This place is pretty damn awesome. Staff is super friendly, always kept clean and there is almost never any waiting. All their food , in my experience, has been super delicious. Except this one time I was having a bad hangover and ordered Biscuits 'n Gravy and the sauce was too floury and not as meaty as I had hoped. The Biscuits themselves are totally as delicious as can be, however I was kind of disappointed with their gravy. Maybe it's because my Dad always made the perfect Biscuits'n Gravy. Hard to compare that perfection ;P Still a great place, I will always come by here when visiting.

I didn't see any black bears inside when I first arrived so I was initially disappointed however after eating their breakfast my opinion changed dramatically. I was with some friends and they thought the exact same thing. It was like we were all on the same wavelength... Anyway they have good food or something

  • Richard G.

This is a very nice diner. We ate breakfast here on a Saturday morning. This place serves traditional American food: eggs, bacon, waffles, and pancakes. Noting fancy, just good honest food. I ordered bacon and eggs. My wife ordered the "A Little Less" Volcano breakfast(two breakfast meats, pancakes, and eggs). The bacon was fabulous. It was both thick and crispy My wife's pancakes has a maliness to them which was very good. Portions were ample unless we didn't want them to be. There is an "A Little Less" section to the menu which serves up the same good food in a smaller portion. As a family with a history of obesity and no plans for physical activity, my wife and I appreciated this. The Little Less Volcano was one egg, two pancakes, one sausage link, and two pieces of bacon. The service was fast but not impersonal. It was busy but we did not wait to get a table. This is a nice place.

We were here on vacation from Michigan and chose Black Bear Diner for lunch! The food was great and so was our service. Even though the restaurant was really busy our server Denise was excellent and took extra care of us! I will definitely go back when we are in the area again!

Whenever I'm in Lake Havasu City visiting with the folks, we try to make it in here for breakfast at least once. It's one of those Diners that puts out a decent meal, in huge proportions for a fair price. On this visit I got the "not so big" ham and cheese omelette. (Believe me, this two egg omelette is plenty big). It is served with hash browns and a biscuit or toast. I opted for the biscuit and it can put Mrs. Knotts to shame. Huge, fluffy, and delicious. It had my daughter filching off of my plate the whole time. Because little miss healthy, veggie scramble with dry wheat toast could not resist my biscuits awesomeness. Their special of the day was a biscuit, split topped with two pieces of fried chicken breast, two eggs, cheese, and country gravy. My daughter asked if it came with a side of insulin.

Ideal breakfast spot. Basic down home type breakfasts, pancakes, hash-browns, eggs, french toast, whatever else people eat for breakfast. Nothing over thought or overly fancy. I don't need hashbrowns with an asian fusion flair, so this place suits my needs perfectly. Has a very greasy spoon feel and that makes for deliciousness all around. Prices are reasonable, and service is super friendly and prompt. Parking is a breeze.

One of my favorite breakfast locale's of all time! Home cooked quality, the Eggs Benedict hollandaise is amazing, large portions. Rarely does a diner have great coffee -this one does! With ample cream on the table. I also loved the homemade large berry cobbler, the ice cream quality is as good as cobbler (vanilla bean). Really wonderful quality value for the prices. Friendly service. We request Leanne when we come in.

  • Tatiana M.

Wow crappy food! The food was greasy and cold. The potatoes are tasteless. The food will leave a coating of grease in back of your throat. The corned beef hash had no hash!!! Just thin greasy old corned beef. Disgusting!!! The taco salad was dry the taco meat was tasteless. Taco Bell makes better taco salads. The owner walks around annoying costumers with his rude comments. Go to Denny's go to Taco Bell forget about this place.

Visited family in Havasu and ate here three times. I have no idea why this place is rated anything less than five stars. The wait staff is very attentive and friendly, portions are generous, and price is quite the bargain. PLUS, kids eat free on Tuesday!

I'm convinced the best restaurant in havasu! Humble food. And they nailed their bread pudding. Mmmmmmm.

I love Black Bear! Huge portions and I have never not enjoyed anything I've tried there. LHC location only lost a star due to a few lack luster servers but they weren't awful and the place was hopping. If you're going for breakfast go early or be ready to wait. Don't forget to try lunch or dinner though, both are great and the crowds are thin

Friends in Lake Havasu city treated my mother and I to lunch here. The decor is really fun. The bear in the hammock is cute! The portions are very good size so do come hungry! The menu is mostly typical American fare: burgers, ribs, steak, salads, etcetera. The staff are really nice and friendly and have great sense of humor! It's a fun place to eat.

  • Noreen A.

Very nice place! Went there for breakfast and had the Grizz. Which is kind of their egg and pancake sampler. The portions were huge, the pancakes were excellent and could have been a meal in it's self. The service was great, the staff was attentive without making you feel rushed. My only criticism was the meat was a little on the burnt side, but that is a personal preference. I don't like my sausage and bacon real crisp. I would defiantly eat there when passing through town again.

YUM! Best diner ever. I'm from Tucson and was up in Lake Havasu for the weekend when we found this place. The atmosphere was casual. It was a Sunday morning so it was packed. We had a party of 4 and they told us there was a 20-30 minute wait. We weren't in a rush so we went to sit outside when 10 minutes later, we were called in. I love it when restaurants under-promise and over-deliver. Big plus! Our waitress was great. Young girl, but gave the best kind of service. Not too bubbly or all over our business, but got us what we needed and did it fast. We all got coffee and she was on top of refills, got our food out quickly, and was pleasant without over doing it. The portions were bigger than expected, and everything was amazing. Do yourself a favor and skip the Denny's. Go here.

Came in a hungry beaver and leaving a big bear ready for hibernation. This food - I tell ya was so darn delicious I would recommend it to anyone with a hankering for some goooood vittles!! We shared a Tex Mex turkey burger and the tri-tip dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy. Every bite was amazing!! Our 3 year old ate his whole pizza! Can't wait for our sundae!!

Huge portions, super tasty entrees, and a great staff! I ordered their homemade corned beef hash (made with real red potatoes, none of that canned food stuff), topped with over-easy eggs and a side of hash browns. It was deathly amazing. I devoured up the whole plate.

First let me start by saying that I have eaten at this establishment quite a number of times and have never had such a horrible experience. We had a table of 6 people including 2 children, when the food started coming out they brought out 1 childs plate and 1 adult plate and then we waited...15 minutes later another plate...5 minutes later another plate...7-10 minutes later we had to let the waitress know that the youngest child of our group had still not received her food. When we ordered we asked for accompaniments ie: mayo, must, etc. The waitress assured us it all came on the side. When all these plates are being brought out they aren't being brought with any of these sides, and good luck trying to find the waitress...so the people who did get their food in a reasonable amount of time didn't even get to eat it before it was cold. And to top it off, one of the dishes ordered was wrong...Way wrong, but it was the last one to be delivered so there was fear in sending it back that they might never get to eat. Sadly the waitress didn't seem to concerned with it...just kept saying she was going to "kill him" I am assuming the cook. It was sad!!!! Should have stuck with our original pick of Schlotzkys!

I have only been here for breakfast, but it has never disappointed! The fresh squeezed orange juice is delicious and the breakfast is consistent every time. I always get the bacon! The service is always quick and very friendly especially if you sit at the counter. And they allow for substitutions on the side items, which is perfect to accommodate dietary needs. My favorite breakfast spot in havasu!

One of my favorite places to eat in LHC. Always very cool inside, good service, and huge portions! Look out for big crowds on Sunday mornings.

Always something to satisfy your taste buds and nothing disappoints, not the service, not the atmosphere and most definitely NOT the food. We Love Black Bear Diner for every meal of the day!

This place is the best. I do prefer breakfast over lunch or dinner, but all there food is great big portions. If you are lucky you will get grandma as your server she is the best. My only complaint is that there credit card machines work most of the time. I have walked to albertsons got cash came back and paid before there cc machine insisted the person in front of me. This has been a problem for years especially on busy weekends.

The Black Bear Diner is a MUST VISIT restaurant if you are in Lake Havasu. I will preface this review by making it known that I have been eating here since they opened this location about 10-12 years ago. They have great food, but their breakfast is why I keep coming back. The Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs is just Ginormous! (and delicious too) The food is always delivered hot and just how you ordered it. If you want the hash browns blackened, they will do it. Steak rare? You'll get a bloody one! The bacon is thick and perfectly cooked every time. My mouth is seriously watering as I type. The servers are very nice to your face, but I love to sit at the counter to eat and listen to them complain about their bosses, their home lives etc. It's a friggin riot! Bring the Kids! They are super nice to the kids and have a great kids menu. They have coloring stuff to keep them occupied if needed too. I have probably eaten here about 50 times and I cannot remember one bad experience. A trip to Havasu without Black Bear isn't a trip I want to take.

Great for a diner Food was good and servers were very nice. Service was a bit slow and they served the kids meals last which is a big no no as most parents would understand. Try it you'll like it.

I'm telling you - I eat here so much I may as well fill out an application the next time I'm there. I'm on a mission to find something on the menu that I DON'T like... I have yet to find that dish - no joke! Everything is very good! The service is always friendly and accommodating. The ambiance puts you in a time unknown. That's not necessarily a bad thing! But the decor and dress of the staff makes you think you'll see someone on horseback trot alongside the restaurant while you eat. But while munching on my gobbler sandwich with turkey and cranberry sauce... who cares?!

Black Bear Diner is by far the best breakfast in Lake Havasu. Everything from the portions to the quality of the food is great. The chicken wrap is my favorite lunch and breakfast is the thick bacon and eggs with sourdough toast. The service is good overall and never is to lacking. Great place to bring the family and I believe food for kids is free on Tuesdays.

Not sure why this has more than 2 stars. Food was not great. I had the pork ribs that were dry and tasteless. Smothered with barbecue sauce still dry. My wife had deep fried shrimp undercooked first time second time shrimp was like mush. Bad frozen food on a good note the host and waitress were nice and tried to help. Won't go back.

A great big menu. Great breakfast, I have also gone for dinner. Dinner are OK , but breakfast is the real star. Great service. Great homemade deserts. Big portions. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Be prepared to wait in the morning, but it is worth it

Some delicious food! The pancakes are sooo good!! They use sweet cream in them...mmmm! This diner chain was founded in Mt. Shasta, CA. They have some items for purchase (lotions, jams, etc.) that come from Shasta...very nostalgic with a mountain cabin in the snow feel right in the middle of the desert!!

Great for the price. Wife had the trout and it was very good. Try the blackberry clobber. Best I have had.

WOW, Come hungry. I bet you cant finish your plate! I have lived in Havasu for 2yrs, and this is the place you go for a real hungrymans Breakfast. They don't mess around. I have never had a bum meal yet. A little pricey, but you could split any plate and still be satisfied. The only thing that could make this place better is to have hot girls serving the food. Other than that. COME HUNGRY.

YUMM, best ever country friend steak, corned beef and hash is lovely, good coffee. My friends always have their pancakes or the cinnamon roll french toast..nothing like desert for breakfast! LOL. HUGE PORTIONS, WELL WORTH THE $$. I would have to say that breakfast makes this place for sure. Dinner is not bad at all, but breakfast is devine! Service is ok, sometimes its sooooo busy. Very loud and very friendly weight staffers. They have specials for kids where they eat free certain day of the week, I think that is awesome

DELICIOUS! Huge portions, great food, the friendliest service in town. Also, the prices are really good and even on a busy weekend they are efficent enough to get you a table with only a 5 or 10 minute wait. If you are in Havasu you have to go here!

Tasty, very large portions, friendly wait staff, family-friendly, fun decor = win! I wish we had one in our hometown.

Huge portions, good breakfast, great service. This is what you want when you go to the river - a breakfast that fills you up, so that you can skip lunch and keep on skiing, tubing, or whatever. One small complaint; I bit into my breakfast sausage patty and hit the mother load of cayenne pepper. Almost burnt my every organ in my body.

This is the second time I've been to this place (both times being while visiting family in the area) and both times were a disappointment. We waited probably 45 minutes to get our breakfast. My son's biscuits and gravy were very cold and the yolk of my poached egg was completely cooked. Huge let down. I'm still trying to figure out why this place is so busy all the time.

After hours of boating on Lake Havasu, everyone was tired and hungry. We wanted comfort food and found it here. Our server Linda was soo nice and accommodating. Food portions here are ginormous!!! Went halfies on the hungryman chicken fried steak and classics meatloaf. Too much food! Everyone of us couldn't finish our meals and had to take to-go. The decorations for this place are really cutesy with bears all over and old photos from the past. Being the Asians that we are, most asked for a copy of the menu, which was cleverly disguised as an old Newspaper from the 1970s and Linda was generous to give us some to keep as momentos.

Compliments of Yelp, I tracked down this diner, and while my Google Maps wasn't particularly helpful, my persistence paid off when I walked an extra block down. The service was spectacular, fast, funny, and beat me to the punch at every question. I ended up ordering the Portuguese Linguica sausage, eggs, and they even offered slice tomatoes when I declined toast, amazing! Very affordable, delicious, and the best service I've ever had...what more could you ask for?

Had the Ruben Sandwich hardly any Corned Beef on it (like 2 pieces) , would not order that again, if I ever go back. Friend had the Hot Turkey Open Faced Sandwich said it was very good, real turkey looked yummy should of got that LOL.

Cute diner. Huge portions. Hubby and I split the Grizz, and both of us walked away full. Everything tasted good, just like it should at a diner. Large menu to choose from. Staff was really friendly. Seemed to be a lot of locals. I'd go back.

This is the closest thing to home cookin when dining out, You feel like your in a lodge and the food has all been great everytime. The portions are good sized and worth the extra buck or two. Its too bad we don't have this place in the Midwest, I'm gettin hungry. This is perfect after a long day on the lake. friendly wait staff also.

Really great food. Definitely one of the top 5 breakfasts I have ever had. I had eggs hash browns and biscuits & gravy. You're probably asking, how can eggs hash browns and biscuits be so different or better than others? Trust me they are better. And reasonably priced too. Oh and it's enough food to share a plate. I almost gave it 5 stars. Although the waitresses were all very nice, they were a little over the top. Almost too talkative for early AM dining. But still a great place to eat.

I love this place! Big portions, friendly staff, and home cooked goodness! another bonus is that they serve pepsi which is a biggy for me. You can never go wrong at black bear! One tip though, if you are going on Sunday morning be prepared to wait.

Your gonna need some extra time to read the menu here. They have just about every home-style comfort food you can think of. Breakfast served all day. Good food, big portions. Something for just about anyone I'd say. Long waits in the morning but not usually any other time.

  • Devin H.

WOW! The portions here are incredible! They raised their prices a bit, but the size of the meals totally make up for it! If you aren't much of an "eater", I suggest trying to get a smaller portion, like getting a half order of french toast, or ordering off the kid's menu or something. Maybe even split with a friend! The food is really good, too. I've been here multiple times, and I've tried breakfast and dinner stuff. I really like the french toast and the chicken pot pie....both are winners here! Just be ready to loosen your belt a little, and perhaps consider taking home the leftovers.

When you read over the menu @ the Black Bear Diner they talk about how they strive for big portions and great hospitality and they weren't kidding. It's a pretty straight forward breakfast menu with a tiny section of regular sized breakfast portions and really nice people to wait on you. It's the kind of place that the waitresses have regulars and had cups of coffee waiting on customers before they even walked in. The food was very good for how much you got of it (A TON) and it was easy to find. They serve breakfast., lunch and dinner but we heard their breakfast was the best.

This place should be on Diners and Dives!! Had chicken fried chicken for dinner and it was delicious. The pounded chicken breast was crispy and took up half the plate. The dinner came with home made mashed potatoes and sauteed veggies that could have been a meal on their own. The chicken and potatoes were covered with a generous amount of home made country gravy with sausage...yummmy and all for just $9.99. It was so good that I decided I had to try a desert. I chose Chocolate Cream pie. It was not a slice. It arrived in a small pie tin covered with a heaping mound of whipped cream. Delicious but I had to take over half back to my hotel because it was so huge. This place may remind you of a Denny's but the food is anything but. It is sure to please even the most picky foodies. A must visit if you are in Lake Havasu.

so if you're ever in the mood for some REALLY good mom-and-pop-like tasting food you'll love this place!! i've only had breakfast here, but man it's really something!! generous portions and homely surroundings make this place a terrific get-a-way from the craziness that is lake havasu during the summer! you'll definitely have to drive a little ways up the road to get here, but DEFINITELY worth the drive!! it's my favorite stop when i hit up the river and with various locations throughout california and nevada it's definitely worth your while to stop here if you see one!
